Changing Attitudes Through Law Reform

Changing Attitudes Through Law Reform

By Sarah Timmers

The YL Law Reform Committee is a great forum for law graduates to get involved in live legal issues in Victoria. On behalf of the LIV it delivered a submission to parliament on lowering the driving age in Victoria from 18 to 17. Committee member Sarah Timmers reflects on her involvement in this project. Before I researched this area of law I was firmly against lowering the legal driving age and against any recommendation to do so. I thought that this could only adversely affect road safety. However our research findings convinced me otherwise. One reason to lower the legal driving age.
