His Honour Judge Fraatz was appointed to the County Court of Victoria in March 2022. He sits in the Common Law Division, hearing a broad range of cases including workplace and transport accident compensation, proceeds of crime, and family property matters. He is currently the Judge in Charge of the Family Property List. Prior to being appointed, his Honour was at the Victorian Bar for 18 years. As counsel, his Honour had a busy common law and commercial litigation practice, with an emphasis in major torts and personal injury claims. He appeared regularly in class actions relating to property damage and personal injuries.

Justice Bromberg was appointed a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia in 2009 after a long career as a barrister at the Victorian Bar and a shorter career as a solicitor working in Melbourne, London and Hong Kong. He was also an occasional consultant to the International Labour Organisation. Some 14 years and over 500 judgments after his Honour’s appointment to the Federal Court, he was appointed President of the Australian Law Reform Commission in July 2023 but continues as a part-time Judge of the Federal Court. Justice Bromberg presided over many of the most important cases in the areas of law in which he practiced. His Honour led the Federal Court’s Employment and Industrial Relations National Practice Area, and his Honour’s wide-ranging practice and experience included Administrative Law, Native Title Law, Migration Law, Human Rights and Constitutional Law.

The Hon Susan Kenny AM, KC was a judge of the Federal Court of Australia from 1998 until November 2023. She was the first women to be appointed a judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria. She joined the Victorian Bar in 1981. Having been awarded a scholarship, she successfully undertook postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in 1986-1988 (DPhil 1989). She was Counsel Assisting the Commonwealth Solicitor-General in 1991-1992 and took silk in 1996. She is Chairperson, Australian Electoral Commission, a lifetime member of the Australian Institute of Judicial Administration, a Foundation Member of the Australian Academy of Law, and Principal Fellow, Melbourne University Law School.
Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
Justice Williams was appointed as a Justice of the Family Court of Australia (now known as a Division 1 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia) on 8 February 2019. Her Honour currently sits on the Full Court in Division 1 of the Court hearing family law appeals, whilst maintaining a family law trial list. Her Honour is also a designated Hague Network Judge, with responsibility for applications arising under The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. She is co-chair of the court’s Education Committee and a member of the International Committtee. Justice Williams was initially appointed as a Judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia (Division 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia) in February 2016, almost 33 years to the day of her admission to practice.
Practicing exclusively in all areas of Family Law since being called to the Bar in 2004, Helen is an experienced trial advocate in complex parenting and property cases. She took silk in 2023 and is recognised in Doyle's Guide as one of Victoria's Leading Family Law Senior Counsel. Jim is the Principal Judge of the Commercial Court. He was appointed to Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria in June 2020. As a member of the Commercial Court, Jim manages approximately 50 cases at any given time and hears trials and interlocutory applications across a wide variety of commercial disputes. John Dixon was a Judge in the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria until his retirement in September 2023 having been first admitted to practice as a solicitor in Queensland in 1977. He moved to Victoria in 1978. He joined the Victorian Bar in 1981 and practised for the best part of 30 years initially in criminal law before turning to commercial law, taking silk in 2007. Appointed to the Court in September 2010, he sat predominantly in the Common Law Division although, as a generalist, he also presided in civil and criminal jury trials, commercial proceedings, and in the Court of Appeal. More recently, he was the Principal Judge of the Common Law Division, a co-Judge in Charge of the Group Proceedings List, and the Judge in Charge of the Major Torts List. In that latter capacity he managed the Court’s defamation list.
