It's becoming harder to navigate through the "fog of the law"

Next week, I will be chairing a plenary session at the National Access to Justice and Pro Bono Conference [LINK].  The topic is about helping those with mental illness navigate their way through the fog of the law.  Unfortunately, recent decisions which have been made by Forensicare and Victoria Legal Aid [VLA] mean that doing so will become even harder for Victorians suffering from mental illness.

LIV seeks to ensure fair trials by intervening in Supreme Court case

15 Feb 2013

On Monday, a Supreme Court judge will rule on an application that Victoria Legal Aid be ordered to provide funding for an instructing solicitor for a complex trial of a person accused of a serious offence. The LIV sought, and was granted, leave to intervene in the case. We believe this is a matter of public interest affecting the administration of justice in this state.
