Information For Clients

The Legal Services Commissioner is responsible for the receipt, investigation and resolution of complaints about legal practitioners, which includes the settlement of disputes between legal practitioners and their clients.

Where the complaint raises issues about a legal practitioner’s professional conduct, the Legal Services Commissioner will investigate the complaint and in more serious cases initiate disciplinary proceedings. Where the complaint is about the costs charged by a legal practitioner or where it is alleged that the legal practitioner’s actions caused financial loss, the Legal Services Commissioner will attempt to resolve the dispute.

Further information about how complaints are made and how complaints are dealt with is available on the website of the Legal Services Commissioner.
