About 90 lawyers took part in the Eastern Suburbs Law Association October meeting – with two continuing professional development units on offer for those who attended.

The dinner meeting, held at the Clarion Hotel in Forest Hill, began with a seminar by Law Institute of Victoria Ethics manager Pam Morton on common ethical problems solicitors face.

The dinner speaker was Cheryl Chua of Blackstone Legal Costing, who spoke about the basics of charging clients, including the requirements for disclosure statements and cost agreements and how to deal with disputes.

Eastern Suburbs Law Association president Ron Rowe said the dinner attracted a big crowd with many solicitors taking advantage of a two-for-one deal, where attendees paid for both the October and November seminar meetings.
