Celebrating careers outside the CBD

Cite as: (2007) 81(12) LIJ, p. 33

Life as a lawyer outside the CBD has been celebrated by young legal professionals at a series of events around suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria.

A variety of activities were attended as part of this year’s Regional and Suburban Young Lawyers’ Week from 8-13 October.

Organised by the Law Institute of Victoria’s Young Lawyers’ Section, the activities aim to give young lawyers the opportunity to network and to celebrate what’s great about working in regional and suburban Victoria.

The events included a Pyrenees Winery Tour that took Ballarat lawyers to the Mt Avoca, Dalwhinnie, Taltarni and Warrenmang wineries.

In Geelong, young lawyers dined with members of the Bar at the Black Sheep Café; in Morwell lawyers gathered at the Top Pub; and in Bendigo the venue was the Ninesevensix restaurant tram.

Trivia was on the agenda for the Southern Region lawyers who gathered at Milanos Restaurant in Brighton; Goulburn Valley lawyers met at a CPD conference at Merrijig; while Gippsland professionals had a flutter at the Sale Cup.
