1 Invest in your staff

Delegate, train and mentor those around you. The quality of service to your clients is only as good as your staff are.

2 Nothing beats good preparation

Be organised and across your brief, and stay up to date with changes in the law.

3 Make friends with people

You don’t have to know the answer to everything. Having strong networks of experienced peers to assist is vital.

4 Set up sustainable work practices

Make sure you have time for things other than work, including activities to keep body and mind fit and healthy.

5 Nurture your curiosity

Maintain an inquiring mind, and don’t take no for an answer. If someone tells you no, ask why not?

6 Stay client focused

Don’t get lost down legal burrows at the expense of obtaining the best outcome for your client.

7 Stay passionate

Make sure you keep passionate about what you do. It’s what will keep you going every day.
