The Victorian Court of Appeal and Supreme Court will be strengthened by two new appointments.

Justice Murray Kellam was elevated to the Court of Appeal and Tony Pagone was reappointed to the Supreme Court, which he had left in 2002 to work in tax litigation.

Justice Kellam’s appointment comes after 12 years as a Supreme Court judge.

Before that he was a County Court judge and the inaugural president of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Most recently, Mr Pagone worked as special counsel to the Commissioner of Taxation and as a tax litigation lecturer at Monash University Law School.

State Attorney-General Rob Hulls, who announced the appointments on 15 May, said both appointees would bring a wealth of valuable experience and expertise to their roles.
