Free tours of the LIV library have proved popular among seasonal law firm clerks.

Free lunchtime library tours for summer law firm clerks proved so popular in December the LIV was forced to add more tours in February, which were also booked out.

The aim of the free tours is to introduce the seasonal clerks to the LIV and more specifically to the library.

LIV training and research librarian Tasia Mitsinikos said the popular lunchtime sessions were designed to help summer clerks make the most of the library’s resources.

“We conducted them over the December period and due to demand put on two more tours for February which were quickly booked out,” she said. “We have had on average six to eight clerks attending per session.”

The LIV library boasts an extensive collection of hardcopy and online legal material and services, managed by specialist legal research librarians.

Tour participants are able to find out what information is available, where to look for it, and how to take advantage of the library’s research facilities and training programs.

“The next lot of tours will be scheduled in June for the winter clerks,” Ms Mitsinikos said.

The library is also running research refresher workshops, legislation and case law workshops and sessions on how to make the most of free legal resources on the internet.
