Law and order election

Law and order election

By Karin Derkley

Courts Criminal Procedure

Burglary and break and enter offences are the lowest they have been in a decade but crime is high on the election agenda. If there was any doubt this was going to be a law and order election, it was firmly settled by a recent IPSOS survey that showed crime was the number one issue of concern for most Victorians. Crime was the biggest issue for 48 per cent of those surveyed, far outstripping housing and cost of living, and a big jump from the response before the last state election in 2014 when it came in third, with just 29 per cent nominating it as the biggest issue.
