Remaking of Fundraising Regulations 2009

Remaking of Fundraising Regulations 2009

Advocacy Uniform Laws

In comments to Consumer Affairs Victoria on the remaking of Fundraising Regulations 2009 (the Regulations), the Law Insitute of Victoria (LIV) noted that, while there appeared to be no particular issue with the Regulations if taken in isolation, a thorough discussion of fundraising law more generally was warranted given recent recommendations by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission Review Panel and the Senate Select Committee Inquiry into Charitable Fundraising in the 21st Century.

The LIV encouraged the Department of Justice and Regulation to continue discussions with the Council of Australian Governments Consumer Affairs Forum and the Senate with a view to regulating conduct in fundraising under one uniform law application throughout Australia to provide consistency and certainty.
