The Law Institute of Victoria has released the annual report for the Family Law Section.

The Family Law Section has 2,920 members and is made up of the following committees and working groups:

  • Family Executive Committee
  • Children and Youth Issues Committee
  • Courts Practice Committee
  • Maintenance & Property Committee
  • Education Working Group
  • Junior Family Lawyers Working Group

In 2020 the Family Law Section participated in a number of important projects and submissions, including Raising the Age of Criminal Responsibility and the National Framework for Information Sharing between the Family Law and Family Violence and Child Protection Systems.

The Family Law Section is currently involved in consultations regarding the development of the Children, Youth and Families Amendment(Child Protection) Bill 2020 and is providing feedback on the Draft Harmonised Family Law Rules for the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court.
