Reforming the Victoria Planning Provisions and Amendment VC148

Reforming the Victoria Planning Provisions and Amendment VC148

By Property and Environmental Law Section

The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) has prepared a submission to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning in relation to the implementation of Amendment VC148, following the 'Reforming the Victoria Planning Provisions' consultation.

The amendment introduces changes to the Victoria Planning Provisions (VPP) and all planning schemes arising from the Victorian Government’s Smart Planning program which aims to simplify and modernise Victoria’s planning policy and rules.

The LIV is broadly concerned on behalf of practitioners with the implementation of VC148. The submission focuses on concerns including that the amendment has come into effect without due consideration or management of its implementation in practice and the significant inconvenience, additional costs and delays caused by the Gazettal of Amendment VC148 with little benefit derived from the expedited process.
