Members of the 2018 YL executive committee outline their career paths. Julianna Marshall YL vice-president, YL Law Reform Committee co-chair Current role Senior associate, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Victoria Former roles Project manager, 50th Anniversary, La Trobe University; Aide to the Governor, Government House; Lawyer, Russell Kennedy How have you advanced your career through engaging in further learning and development opportunities? Pro bono work and volunteering are excellent opportunities to develop new skills. As a lawyer I was heavily involved in Russell Kennedy’s pro bono program, through which I developed and consolidated a range of skills including client and stakeholder management, policy development and public speaking. I also volunteered with a range of organisations and was involved in project management and strategy planning. These experiences allowed me to easily transition back and forth between roles directly related to the practice of law and those outside the industry.
