The Drug Court is a division of the Magistrates Court of Victoria currently sitting at Dandenong and Melbourne. In March 2020, the State Government announced the expansion of the Drug Court to Ballarat and Shepparton, and the County Court of Victoria.
The Drug Court has the power to administer Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders (DATO). The DATO consists of two components: a custodial component and treatment and supervision component. The purpose of a DATO is to facilitate rehabilitation by providing a judicially supervised, intensive and integrated drug and alcohol treatment program.
